Luigi Moccia (CeAS president) – Short Bio
Professor emeritus of Comparative Law and Jean Monnet Chair of European Union Law and Institutions at Roma Tre University, where he was Director of the Department of Political Institutions and Social Sciences (elected for one term: 1995-1998), Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences (elected for three consecutive terms: 1998-2008), and President of the European Centre of Excellence “Altiero Spinelli” (CeAS) since it was established, in 2003, until the cessation of its activities in 2020, with the fulfillment ―as principal investigator― of the Horizon Trivalent project (2017-2020), which was the latest one in a series of scientific projects carried out together with cultural events and dissemination activities, as well as print and online publications and other initiatives developed over the years by CeAS.
He is also the founder and director of the scientific journal La cittadinanza europea and the monographic series Quaderni del Centro Altiero Spinelli (both published by FrancoAngeli editore), and present chief editor and of the electronic scientific journal la cittadinanza europea online.
In 2011 he received the Doctor h.c. degree from the University of Oradea.
He currently holds the position of Honorary President of the “Interdepartmental Center for Studies and Documentation on China and East Asia” (CSDC), Roma Tre University.
